Northern Lake District     Derwentwater

Located in North Western England is the scenic Lake District, the Derwentwater area offers something for everyone; from walks through the charming wooded valley of Borrowdale and tranquil lakeside paths to classic ascents of summits such as Helvellyn, Great Gable and Scafell Pike. Speckled with tiny islands and surrounded by majestic fells, Derwentwater is a superb location from which to enjoy everything that Lakeland has to offer. The HF hotel is located in landscaped grounds sloping down to the lake jetty.. 

2022 Dates: Guided Walking Holidays start every Friday weekly from May through October.

Walkers stay at the same hotel for seven nights. Days start and end with a short bus ride so the walks are in the most spectacular parts of the island.  Three different guided walks are offered each day. You choose according to your fitness and ability.

High Season prices start at 999 GBP (Great Britain Pounds) per person based on double occupancy. (approximately $1789 Cdn).
Non-member associate fee 30 GBP per person.
Single rooms with no single supplement are offered but with limited availability.

Seven nights first class accommodation with private bath
Three meals a day
Guided walking programme with a choice of three walks daily
Transportation in conjunction with the walks

Walking: A choice of three guided walks is offered each day. 

  • Easier walks:       5.5 – 9 miles.         Up to 1275 ft of ascent in a day.
  • Medium walks:    7.5  -  11.25 miles  Up to 2100 ft of ascent in a day
  • Harder walks      7.75 – 13 miles - using steep and rough paths to mountain summits. Up to 3,325 ft of ascent in a day.
     

When you are not walking enjoy a ferry ride around Derwent or take in a performance at the Keswick Theatre by the Lake. .


ACCOMMODATION:
DERWENTBANK
has splendid views of the surrounding hills and landscaped grounds sloping down to the lake. Rooms have double or twin beds, private bath, TV and hairdryer. Facilities include a conservatory, bar, laundry facilities and a boot drying room.
 
All meals are included with a hot or cold breakfast buffet, a generous self-select picnic lunch and a hearty three-course evening meal. There is always a vegetarian option..
