CUBA REVOLUTIONARY RAMBLES

2022 Dates:
      Jan 20 - Feb 01

In 1492 Christopher Columbus described the island of Cuba as ‘the most lovely that eyes have ever seen’. Now, more then five hundred years later, the island is equally enchanting. Our exploration includes city walks in Old Havana with its architectural treasures, gracious promenades, hip-swaying music, friendly people, vintage cars and revolutionary culture.  We enjoy the lush National Parks of Western Cuba. Here, Cuba’s emphasis on conservation has preserved timeless rural beauty. A network of walking trails wanders amid tropical forest that is home to wild orchids and exotic birds - it is a nature lover’s delight. From our base at a beachfront hotel near the colonial town of Trinidad we walk amid old coffee plantations and in the remote Sierra Escambray mountains. In your free time you may also enjoy a quiet stroll on the five mile long Ancon Beach or a little snorkelling in the clear Caribbean waters.

Highlights:
  • Exploring Old Havana
  • Walking in the beautiful Sierra Escambray
  • Hearing tales of revolution and exploits of Che Guevara
  • Visiting colonial Trinidad
  • Escaping winter to enjoy sunshine, tropical vegetation and warm ocean
