A holiday bursting with adventure in the spectacular mountain kingdom of Nepal - ancient cities of the Kathmandu Valley, the massive Annapurna mountains and the rich wildlife of Royal Chitwan Safari Park.

Guided Walks:  Distances are between 4 and 8 miles with a maximum ascent of about 2,700 ft. Paths are easy to follow though rough at times.  On the Annapurna trekking option there will be six hours walking on most days at altitudes of up to 8,000 ft.

Included: 15 nights accommodation in  en-suite rooms or in twin-bedded tents on trekking option.  Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner from dinner on arrival until breakfast on departure. All internal flights.  Services of local guides, trek support staff on the trekking option and an HF Holidays' leader.   Walks, sightseeing, entrance fees and travel by minibus or coach.

Hotels: Stay in a collection of good quality and well-located 3 and 4 star resort hotels and lodges with good facilities. The Balthali Village Resort is a relaxing retreat in a walker's paradise.  On the Annapurna trek we camp in relative luxury with full trekking facilities and a team of porters. 

Day 1: To Kathmandu
- Fly to Kathmandu  

Day 2: Kathmandu - Afternoon arrival and transfer to the hotel for 2 nights. Visit the Boudhanath, the largest Stupa in Nepal, for a chance to stretch the legs after the journey.

Day 3: Kathmandu - See the sights of the historic centre on a walking tour of the capital, visiting Durbar Square, the Temple of the Living Goddess and the lively vegetable and spice markets. Continue to Swayambhunath temple, with the all-seeing eyes of Buddha, perched on a hill overlooking the valley.

Day 4: To Bhaktapur - A walk to the serene surroundings of Nagi Gompa and onto the ridge for views of the paddy fields of the Kathmandu valley, pine forests and the Bagmati River. We then travel to the medieval city of Bhaktapur (1 night) with time to explore.

Day 5: To Nagarkot - Morning walking tour of the medieval city of Bhaktapur, with its traditional houses with fine wood carvings and small cottage industries.  Visit Durbar Square and Nyatapola Temple, the highest in the valley. Continue to Nagarkot for 2 nights. Nagarkot is notable for its hilltop position, which offers views of spectacular sunsets over the valley and memorable sunrises over the Himalayas. On clear days there are panoramic views of the peaks of Everest, Mt. Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Choba Bhamre and other parts of the eastern Himalayan range.  Afternoon free to explore the town or take a stroll to the surrounding villages.

Day 6: Changu Narayan - Our trail leads through fields and villages to the forests of Telkot, where we enjoy our picnic in the forest clearing. After lunch we continue to the UNESCO Heritage Site of Changunarayan.

Day 7: To Balthali - This morningís walk leads through jungle rich in animal and plant life on a level trail to Nala. Transfer to the Newari town of Panauti, home to the oldest temple in Nepal dating from the 13th century. Walk through paddy and potato fields directly to our accommodation (3 nights). The area surrounding the resort is thickly forested with luxuriant flora and great birdlife which opens out to the terraced fields. The views of the Himalayas here, with beautiful sunrises and sunsets, will leave a lasting memory.

Day 8: Day hike to Pada Gaun - Wonderful views as we walk to Pada Gaun, through traditional Tamang villages. The Tamang originally came from Tibet several hundred years ago. Their villages remain secluded and far removed from the trappings of the modern world. Sitting back to relax and enjoy our picnic, we are surrounded by wonderful views of the major part of the Himalayan ranges and beautiful green forest of the Mahabharat range.

Day 9: Neupane Gaun - A morning walk to the confluence of the Roshi and Ladku Khola rivers leads us through a beautiful pristine valley to a traditional maize mill, and to the holy shrine of Lord Shiva, before we return to the resort for lunch and an afternoon of relaxation.

Days 10-11: to Hattiban - We drive to Hattiban (2 nights) where we can relax in this landscape of lush green hills, and where we can enjoy a walk to the summit of Champadevi, for unforgettable views of the Himalaya and the Kathmand Valley.  

Day 12 to Pokhara - After breakfast we drive to Kathmandu airport for a short flight to Pokhara. After lunch we walk through the forests to the Peace Pagoda. From here we walk down to the beautiful Phewa Tal, and enjoy a boat ride back to our hotel, where we stay for 4 nights.

Day 13: Kalikasthan & Begnas Tal - Today we transfer to the start of our walk. The trail ascends, quite steeply at times, through the colourful ethnic villages of the Gurung and Ghaley people, to Kalikasthan. After lunch we follow the ridge line through villages down to the pretty shores of Begnas Tal, transferring from here back to Pokhara. 

Day 14: Sarangkot - We begin our walk from Naudandan, a pleasant level walk through the Bhramin and Chhetris villages takes us to the vantage point of Sarangkot. Our descent back down to Pokhara is steep in places.

Day 15: Pokhara area - short walks in the area surrounding Pokhara and plenty of time to explore the town.

Day 16: To Kathmandu - This morning we explore Pokhara itself, visiting the famous Davies Falls. After lunch we drive to the airport for the short flight to Kathmandu. We have the rest of the afternoon to relax before enjoying a farewell dinner and a Nepali cultural show.

Day 17:  Transfer to the airport  

Extend your stay -   Chitwan National Park

Chitwan National Park is one of Nepalís biggest attractions, after the mighty Himalaya. This beautiful park is home to a plethora of wildlife, including the endangered one-horned Indian rhino, and healthy populations of tiger and leopard amongst many other species. Your stay in the park will treat you to safaris in this stunning area. Keep your eyes peeled!

Day 1: fly from Kathmandu to Bharatpur and a transfer to the Jungle Villa Resort, your accommodation for exploring Chitwan National Park (breakfast, lunch and dinner included). 

Day 2: a full day of activities ranging from wildlife viewing with experienced naturalists to elephant safaris into remote regions of the park (breakfast, lunch and dinner included).

Day 3: one last chance to search for wildlife this morning before transferring to Bharatpur and your flight to Kathmandu. On arrival in Kathmandu you will be transferred to your final nightís accommodation at the Hotel Malla (breakfast included).

Day 4: transfer to the airport for your flight home .
