Guided Walking in Britain

Isle of Wight       Freshwater Bay

Located off the southern coast of England, the Isle of Wight is a 35 minute ferry ride from the port of Lymington. The Isle of Wight offers golden beaches, forests and open meadows as well as gardens and historic sites. Carisbrooke Castle is a majestic medieval ruin. Osborne House, near Cowes, was built as Queen Victoria's country retreat and Yarmouth is a seductive port with narrow lanes and stone quays. Walking highlights include a path through Afton Nature Reserve and along an old railway line, a walk along the coast climbing through woodland to the Neolithic Long Stone.

2019 Classic Walking Holidays operate weekly starting Saturdays from April through October. Walkers stay at the same hotel for seven nights. Days start and end with a short bus ride so the walks are in the most spectacular parts of the island.  Three different guided walks are offered each day. You choose according to your fitness and ability.

Book before Oct 31    804 GBP per person for one week based on double occupancy. Book after Oct 31 - the price is 879 GBP.
Non-member associate fee            10 GBP per person.
Single rooms with no single supplement are offered but with limited availability.

When you are not walking:  Visit Osborne House Queen Victoria's summer palace. Gardeners will love the Ventnor Botanical Garden. Go sightseeing by riding the open top bus or ride the Wight Steam Railway. Visit Tennyson's cottage or Carisbrooke Castle.
FRESHWATER BAY HOUSE is named after the semi-circular cove in which it lies, Freshwater Bay House occupies a premier coastal location with some of the island's best walks on the doorstep.  Many of the bedrooms have wonderful sea views, with others overlooking the extensive grounds.  Dating from the 1790s' this prominent local landmark is now a very comfortable Country House Hotel with three lounges, a light and airy function room, heated outdoor pool.  Consistently rated very highly for the quality of its food and attention to detail, it remains one of our most popular holiday venues.

All meals are included.  Enjoy a generous self-select picnic lunch and three-course evening meal including a vegetarian option.
